Different approaches and assay order have been applied to successfully navigate the hit to lead to candidate search. No matter what the approach, at some point there is a requirement to determine if the target compound is orally bioavailable.
Physical properties (aqueous solubility, logP) are often measured as predictors of oral bioavailability. Our experience with chemiluminescent nitrogen detection enables us to be extremely efficient at determining aqueous solubility and log P for nitrogen containing compounds. Using the nitrogen detector we are able to rapidly determine the kinetic and thermodynamic solubility of target compounds or polymorphs. The nitrogen detector allows us to accurately and efficiently determine logP in the range of -2 to 4.
